I serve as both a music teacher and an Anglican missionary in the Paraguayan province of Cordillera. My calling is to bring the gift of music to children who would otherwise never have the chance to learn it!
Here, music education in public schools is rare. Occasionally a dedicated teacher will form a choir or a small recorder group, but most children never have the opportunity to play an instrument at school. Guitar teachers are available, yet for many families the lessons are too far away, or the cost of tuition and an instrument is simply not possible.
From the very beginning, my aim has been to remove these barriers. If a child wants to learn, I do my best to make it possible — free of charge, and close enough for them to walk. In many cases, that is the difference between discovering a God-given gift or never knowing it was there.
Some lessons take place in schools, where we sing together and sometimes play guitars or keyboards. Others are held in small community settings — a church, a drop-in center, or someone’s home — wherever there is space for music to happen.
I am aware that offering free lessons brings challenges, such as creating dependency or unintentionally competing with local teachers who rely on their income. That is why I keep the wider goal in sight: seeing the community as a whole grow — not only in musicality, but also in faith, education, livelihood, and relationships.
This work continues only through the faithful support of people who share this vision. Even a small contribution helps provide instruments, learning materials, and a place where children can grow — musically, spiritually, and as part of their community.

More than anything else, I need a network of people who are into this project. Maybe you have a skill set that can come in handy. Maybe you have connections. Maybe you have an old trumpet in your attic. Maybe you can share about us among your friends and relatives. Or you just want to remain updated. Whatever the case, please stay in touch.
I’ll be posting regular updates. Due to privacy concerns, I can’t just send those out to everyone. But if you would like to receive them, click here: https://www.vdm.org/keep-in-touch/AC542000
Maybe you don’t find anything on this list that you can help me with, and that is ok! But there’s a good chance that someone in your network does. Please share this page with your friends, I would greatly appreciate it.
Did you find something on the list with which you can help, or do you know someone who can help? Please let me know.
